Pupils from six local primary schools joined Ridgeway for the annual ‘Love Dance’ event. Many thanks to Bidston Village, St Joseph’s in Birkenhead, St Joseph’s in Upton, St Peter’s, Our Lady and St Edward’s and Bidston Avenue.
Everyone arrived in their fabulous costumes, ready to dance and show off their hard work to an enthusiastic audience of families and friends. Our own students performed some of their own choreography as well as pieces worked on in Dance Club and some GCSE work that has been entered into a national competition.
When the primary schools rehearsed their dances before the show day, Ridgeway students helped them to practise and took the younger students under their wing to help them learn the finale dance to Jamiroquai’s Canned Heat.
Miss Love says: “Seeing the students help the younger primary school-aged dancers has been really uplifting. They have become excellent dancers and role models. This is such an exciting event and the opportunity to host all this talent from the local area is a real privilege.
Arwen Radley and Connor Styring started off the two shows with real flair and panache, introducing each school up to the dance floor. There was also invaluable help from GCSE Performing Arts students behind the scenes: Samuel Dempsey, Kieran McKay and Lewis Reece on sound and Jordan Napthine, Paul Collins and Andrew McKenna on lighting.”
