This qualification is a Technical Award equivalent in size to one GCSE. It provides an introduction to some of the key themes within the health care industry, enabling students to develop and apply their knowledge of the sector while also developing a range of relevant theoretical and practical skills. It incorporates aspects of human development and the care values, enabling students to apply their knowledge to practical, sector-related contexts.
How we organise learning
Health and social care is part of the vocational group of subjects. During the curriculum choices process in Year 8, students can opt to study health and social care from Years 9 to 11.
