Headteacher’s Welcome

A warm welcome from Tony Taylor, Headteacher

Mr Taylor with Archbishop John Sentamu, who officially opened our new school building on 8 September 2017

Thank you for showing an interest in Ridgeway High School and taking the time to find out more about us.

The opening of our brand new building in September 2017 marks an historic moment in the story of the school, which first opened its doors in 1974. Five years in the planning, the new Ridgeway High School offers a magnificent environment for learning and I am incredibly proud to be Headteacher at this auspicious time in the school’s history.

My promise is to deliver inspirational learning in ultra-modern facilities, to provide outstanding pastoral care for your son or daughter, and, of course, to maintain a single-minded focus on excellence and achievement.

This phrase – ‘inspirational learning’ – encapsulates my vision for the educational experience I want Ridgeway High School to deliver as we seek to nurture young people who are confident individuals, resilient learners and responsible citizens – equipped and ready for the challenges of modern life.

Of course, examination results matter. But I firmly believe that a fully-rounded education involves much more. Here at Ridgeway, opportunities abound for students to engage in memorable – sometimes life-changing – sporting, cultural and spiritual experiences.

This website offers a glimpse of who we are. You will, of course, see lots about our wonderful new building, about our commitment to outstanding progress for all and about some of the amazing enrichment opportunities we offer. Above all, I hope that you will start to get a sense of what makes Ridgeway High School unique.

I am thrilled that we are once again over-subscribed for the new Year 7. If you are already a friend of Ridgeway, I warmly welcome you back. If you are new to us, I am delighted that you want to learn more about us and are perhaps considering Ridgeway High School for your son or daughter’s secondary education.

Tony Taylor
Headteacher
