Inspirational learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. We are always looking for ways to provide students with opportunities to broaden their horizons, offering an outstanding programme of trips, visits, competitions and experiences beyond the classroom and the school gates – from trips to local museums and elite sporting and cultural events to sites of national, international and historic importance.
Ridgeway High School offers life-changing experiences that result in lifelong memories.
We actively encourage students to express themselves and to develop their talents. We stage ambitious productions such as Bugsy Malone and Grease and run a highly-successful Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme. Our annual Ridgeway’s Got Talent show is a highlight of the school year. An extensive co-curricular sports programme involves our students in local, regional and national competitions. Our students are motivated to aspire to be the best through a programme of regular visits to elite sporting events.
The ‘House’ system promotes an element of healthy competition. House events, both sporting and non-sporting, take place on a regular basis, with students earning points towards their House total.
We encourage students to work cooperatively and to participate in the life of the school through our leadership programme, with opportunities to volunteer for positions of responsibility, such as charity ambassadors, Student Voice representatives and the student leadership teams.
We want students to be open-minded, outward-facing and respectful of others. Opportunities to support local, national and international charity organisations—fundraising, awareness raising and meeting vulnerable individuals—help give students a different perspective on the world around them and promote a strong sense of social responsibility.
