A week after fighting for the British lightweight boxing title, ex-Ridgeway High School student, Sean Dodd, made a return visit to the school to inspire the next generation of young people. Sean spent the day in the PE department, helping students to focus on achieving their sporting and academic potential and offering them the opportunity to quiz a member of Britain’s sporting elite on exactly what it takes to reach the top.
Head of PE, Stephen Murphy, said: “The students were delighted to meet Sean, especially so soon after his title fight. Sean is an outstanding role model for our students, particularly being an ex-student of Ridgeway High School himself.
I would like to thank Sean for taking time out of his busy schedule to spend the day with us. He left us with a very powerful message: the purpose of life, he said, is to live it, to experience it to the upmost, and to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experiences.”
