On 9 November, Mr Heayns & Mr Worthington took Year 11 students from our Gifted & Talented Programme to visit Liverpool University. The aim of the visit was to introduce them to the challenges and opportunities that await them after they leave Ridgeway and complete their A-levels.
Although the weather may have been rather dreary and depressing, it didn’t stop everyone enjoying themselves and learning about the sorts of courses offered, the truth behind student loans and (to the shock of some of them) the idea of doing their own washing!
A very informative trip ended with each student pondering whether the future lies with a local provider like Liverpool University or further afield – away from the Wirral and the North West.
Next up is a visit to Lancaster so that the students can compare different types of university. Lancaster University has a fast-growing reputation. It differs from Liverpool in that it is a campus university.
